Quentin Tarantino is Hoping to Make an ‘R’ Rated STAR TREK Movie
After STAR TREK BEYOND failed to resonate at the box-office, even though it received critical praise, Paramount Pictures put the STAR TREK franchise on hold. Shortly after filmmaker Quentin Tarantino pitched a Star Trek story idea to the series producer, J.J. Abrams, which Abrams reportedly really liked. According to Deadline, Abrams brought together a writers room to pitch different takes on Tarantino’s idea and find a co-writer to pen the screenplay with Tarantino. One of the stipulations for Tarantino to direct the movie, according to Deadline, is that the movie be rated R. Tarantino is known for movies like PULP FICTION, KILL BILL, THE HATEFUL EIGHT, all of which are R-rated, and feature graphic violence and abundant foul language.
It’s not clear whether Chris Pine or Zachery Quinto will be back in this new version, but Paramount Pictures seems to be abandoning the previous commitment to make this beloved science fiction adventure series accessible to younger audiences.
