#MeToo: Morality Clauses Return to Hollywood in Wake of Abuse Scandals
Morality clauses are returning to many Hollywood contracts in the wake of sex abuse scandals involving studio mogul Harvey Weinstein and actors like Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K.
Such clauses would give studios the right to fire a person and not pay them for cases of moral turpitude, any behavior that violates the accepted standards of the community or any conduct “that results in adverse publicity or notoriety or risks bringing the talent into public disrepute contempt, scandal, or ridicule.”
Hollywood is also considering creating some kind of “sex abuse insurance.”
